Diablo 3 is Nearly Here!

Diablo 3 is Nearly Here!

Diablo 3, Blizzard’s highly anticipated third installment in the Diablo franchise, will be released at midnight on May 15, 2012.

Players from around the world have been greedily smacking their lips at the game for quite some time. Blizzard fans jumped at the opportunity to play Diablo 3 in its beta phase and the reviews have made new players that much more excited.

Whether you are a 15-year Diablo veteran or a closet gnome who has yet to play a Blizzard game, Diablo 3 is sure to spark your interest and keep you coming back for more. Blizzard has been, over several weeks, slowly revealing the five main classes players will be controlling in Diablo 3. These classes, in order of preview, include: Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor and Wizard.

Whether you prefer to crush your opponents with brute force or subdue them with powerful elemental energy, there is sure to be a class for you. For many players who have at least experimented with Blizzard’s “World of Warcraft,” there will be many familiar terms and concepts. For example, you will unlock powerful gear as the game progresses as well as one-handed, two-handed and ranged weapons. Players will find consumable items, crafting options, dyes, gems and a slew of other interesting features.

For veteran Diablo players, the game will offer something called “hardcore mode.” This is a game type similar to that of “Realm of the Mad God” where players will have but a single virtual life. If that player dies, their character can’t return to the game. This mode is designed to give the adventurous a chance to test their skills against the game with much higher stakes than that of a casual player. These players are separately ranked in the game, have names highlighted in red and can only form teams with other hardcore players.

Another exciting feature in Diablo 3 comes from the auction house. The game will feature two very specific types of auction houses where players can either spend their in-game gold for items or their real-world money. That’s right. Players will be able to both make and spend real money via the in-game auction house. Of course, Blizzard, being the grand host of all things holy, has concocted a means of making money from these auctions. If the player is selling weapons or armor, Blizzard will take one dollar from the sale. However, if the item being sold is a crafting item, Blizzard will get the full 15 percent. Still a win win if you ask me!

Overall, there are many very exciting features coming from Diablo 3 and it is merely one week away! Players can register for a battle.net account online as well as pre-order the game for the midnight release. There are sure to be plenty of surprises in store for hardcore Diablo fans and new players alike, so get your wallets out and join the rest of the world on May 15th!
